Residential Support Worker – Male Only
Children’s Home for Deaf Young People with Trauma and Complex Needs
We are recruiting for male support workers that have a passion for helping vulnerable young people. Do you have experience supporting children with complex needs and want to apply this in a trauma-informed, therapeutic setting? Would you like to learn British Sign Language (BSL) and grow your career in a nurturing, child-centred environment?
Rolle House is a registered Children’s Home specialising in supporting Deaf young people with complex needs who are aged 11–18. The Home has a distinct ethos as being nurturing and child-centred, applying therapeutic and trauma informed approaches (Thrive). In this role you will develop your skills and as part of a passionate and caring team and have opportunities to grow in your career. You will be supported to upskill, and develop all aspects of continued professional development, such as formal qualifications such as a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or various in house training on topics like BSL, complex needs, trauma informed approach and neurodiversity.
We are looking for resilient, caring and committed Residential Support Worker’s to work with Deaf young males who have experience developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and displayed sexual behaviours. You’ll act as a positive role model for the young person by helping them build life skills and emotional resilience in a safe and compassionate way while setting and maintaining boundaries to keep our young people safe. This post is open to male applicants only and is a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
In the day-to-day aspect of your role as Residential Support Worker, you will be supporting our young people in developing their everyday opportunities, creating fun and developmental activities that support their wellbeing and independence. All helping to create happy memories as part of the young people’s childhood experiences. Working on a rota as part of a team of 4, you will work around 35 hours (including sleep-ins as part of a 24 hours shift) across a 3-week shift pattern. You will combine maintaining a well-run, clean, and cared for home whilst meeting the daily needs of the young people's care, enjoyment, and achievement.

*The advertised salary includes an allowance of £45 per sleep-in, totaling an estimated £3,000pa, claimed through monthly timesheets.
